In the book Biocentrism, renown scientist Robert Lanza covers alot of interesting topics ranging from The Big Bang Theory to the very way that we perceive space and time.
It’s a book that everyone should read which challenges many scientific theories and also poses exciting concepts for contemplation.
The most intriguing concept of the book is backed by quantum theory which proposes, through it’s experiments, that everything exists in a probability (or superposition) state until collapsed into actual particles. The collapsing of probability states into actual particles is what we see as reality.
So what collapses probability states into reality? It is the observer. They are implicitly connected.
For something to be observed it requires consciousness and this is where the beauty of our existence comes into play.
Most of us have heard the old riddle, ‘if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?’
Well, Biocentrism would propose that most probably, that’s a no. In fact Biocentrism proposes that if there was no one there to observe it, the tree did not fall in the first place or that it may have been fallen and upright at the same time. It is only the observer that brings it into existence in any state.
This isn’t some ‘spiritual whacko’s’ idea of escapism from the life of the mundane that we so often can find ourselves caught in. This is backed by a great deal of scientific research.
It is a powerful thing to consider that everything in existence is only possible because of us. Because of everything that has consciousness.
In addition to what I have just mentioned, consider also, this:
There have been experiments that have proven that the decisions that we make, have happened before the point where we actually realise that we have made them. It suggests that in alot of ways we operate on a subconscious level. Our subconscious has a great control over us. It dictates our thoughts without us actually being totally aware of them until later on in the piece, perhaps a little ‘after the fact’.
Think about advertising. It’s a classic example and one that I feel I am qualified to comment on based on my years in graphic design.
Coca Cola advertising is everywhere. For a long time, any time I felt thirsty the first thing that would come to my mind was a refreshing Coke. My subconscious mind related refreshment to Coke over any other drink, and there are a lot of drinks out there. But because I am subconsciously observing Coke and the messages of it’s advertisements almost continually, it is something that I automatically relate to refreshment.
We are programmed subconsciously by what we see every day. On TV, on social media, on bus signs, on billboards. Every where you look, something is adding to your subconscious programming.
There is also something called the super-concious mind. The super-concious mind is the collective of everything. It is the place where true genius is said to come from. It is the most potent in people with open minds, in people who are open to it’s influence.
You see this when you are hit with an overwhelming clarity of thought, or when you are thinking of someone and they call you at that very moment. A lot of extremely successful and genius types have professed knowledge of this super-concious awareness.
This video talks about Mozart who was claimed by many to be the greatest musician of all time. Mozart said that when he sat down to write his music it was perfect in it’s first writing, almost as if it came from somewhere else and he was just the medium from which it translated to paper. It also talks about Beethoven and how most of his greatest works came after he was more or less tone deaf.
It intrigues me to contemplate how powerful we are.
I have had several dreams where I have been able to fly. These have been some of the most exhilarating and realistic dreams I have ever had. To simply lift off and fly, all with a thought, is incredible. I have experienced it and been at one with it in a way I simply cannot effectively put into words. It’s just that I have done it during a time where I was on a different concious level, where my basic senses made way to a mysterious realm, one which I visit every night. It does not make my experience any less real. It is simply a different state of concious awareness where my barriers are down and my power is quite simply unlimited.
In my disappointment I’d wake up to ‘reality’ and realise that it was a ‘dream’. Yet my soul longs for flight again and I am pulled towards the freedom of it constantly. I can fly. I have flown. I was alive when I was doing it. I created it.
And in the same way that I created that, everyone around me creates in the same way.
The issue we have is when we let aliens into our subconscious.
When we are shown that someone hates us. We are introduced to hate. If we accept it, we are compelled almost by an automatic reaction to act in the same manner. Thus we create more of the same and at the same time, we are introduced to fear, and in the midst of fear…hopelessness. It is really only by force of will and concious refusal that we can deny the pull to treat like with like.
We are told that we cannot change the world, that it’s some sort of a random process.
Our news is filled with death, pain, war, suffering and unhappiness. Everyday, it filters into our subconscious.
Our advertising is full of sex, trinkets and material happiness. It filters into our subconscious.
Those who choose to question this existence often find themselves in hopelessness. Sometimes we try to convince others of our power but they say that it isn’t so, that nothing can be done.
But to me, it becomes ever increasingly obvious, the more I explore it, how we control everything and the way it goes around and around.
The super-concious mind is a collective of us all. We are all plugged into it.
The super-concious mind is the probability state, it ebbs and flows through everything. It exists in waves of positivity and negativity. It has every possible answer.
Our subconscious is the conductor, it collapses the negativities and positivities even before we know it.
Then, our conciousness, the one that we are aware of, brings these positivities or negativities into existence. It creates all that we see. And it is the collective creation of us all.
So next time you see a hateful act and are compelled to turn your thoughts to hatred, don’t invite it in. Next time you see a selfish act and are compelled to turn your thoughts to selfishness, don’t invite it in. Next time you see the news and it’s narrative for hopelessness, hate and fear, don’t invite it in.
Look harder, question the narrative. Find the beauty in the power of your mind and create the beauty that amazes you, inspires you and fuels the good that we all harbour inside of us.
Because to recognise that, to understand the power of the things that we can not see…Is to truly be open.
To be truly be open, is to be truly open to each other.
To be truly open to each other, Is to truly be human.
And that is truly, the greatest path to which our destiny lies.
