It seems like good timing.
My piece for Movember is ready. You may (if you haven’t blocked me or deleted me) seen my social media posts recently. Well I’ve decided that I might step away for a little while.
Today my good friend told me that I should take a chill pill. Obviously I found that quite absurd and was about to tell him to go screw himself. But I guess, the reality is, he was right.
I’m too close to this and I must admit, as a father and a much different man to who I used to be, my mind is consumed.
My message is distorted.
So, if you will. Let me clarify the way that I feel.
Hell, you can even chuck this song on to help you through. This will be viewed by some as incredibly naive. This post is not for everyone.
This is not utopia.
I believe in the Super-concious mind.
I believe it is the collective everything.
The great heaving mass of our conscious’ combined.
The intelligence behind thought and emotion. The energy that burns from each one of us.
Out into the ether. Creating the whole.
Our sense of awe and wonder. Our incomprehensible amazement. Do we contemplate this?
How often do we stop and marvel at the simplest things around us? As we arise in the morning, are we not profoundly dazzled?
We are not incompetent.
We are not weak.
We are divided.
Do we not realise our power?
Our thoughts are enormously powerful, yet far too subtle a power to see.
We are what we offer, into the system.
The world around us is a direct manifestation of our thoughts and our actions. In the motivations that drive us. In the system of our beliefs.
Greed is not only for the wealthy in regards to making more money.
Selfishness not only for the stingy who are clinging onto theirs.
Joy is not found through comfort in our own ignorance, or the neglect to quench our insatiable thirst for knowledge.
But hopelessness is the place we find ourselves at, when we refuse a person the time of day, or neglect the effort required to understand them better.
We are worn down by criminals.
They tell us we must grow and grow and grow. For jobs. For the economy. Yet our world is not infinite.
They tell us that innovation comes through competition. By climbing over each other for the scraps that we are given.
That we must take what we need.
But are we really growing? Are we really evolving?
Or are we plunging?
Failing day by day?
Struggling. Frustrated. Tired.
Anger bubbling under the surface.
This is the starvation of the spirit.
See the perpetual destruction. The elimination of species in the troves.
Do we see the future in our children’s eyes. Do we envision the world we want for them?
We must explode from our apathy.
Our minds must be freed from the chains that bind them.
From the old tired ways.
From the veil of propaganda and unfounded prejudices, force fed to us through mainstream narratives.
From the acceptance that things are OK the way that they are. They are NOT!
Do you believe, that we can’t profoundly effect change on the world?
Well here we are! Welcome …to the world that we created.
The world that we allowed.
Look at the hostilities around us.
The hypocrisy and the continual open ended conflicts.
The class warfare.
The continuing modern slavery.
The shaving of democratic values and the subtle removal of rights.
The worst displacement of human beings since the last world war. A war where so many died, so that we might move past this. So that we might be free.
They watch our every move, yet ignore our voices.
Occupy. Did they listen?
Refugees. We turn them away. But why are they here?
Islam. Conceived as a great threat to our world. The crutch for which we place the world’s woes on. Have we no shame?!
Hear the voices cry out at the atrocities.
Are you heard? In these great democracies of ours?
Or are there more homeless on the streets?
The world is dying. Look closely at those who deny it.
Modern democracies are corroded and rusting away. Inequality grows in them by the day.
Surely we must understand, collectively, that we were meant for so much more than this?
We will not win through building walls of fear.
We will not win by hiding. Mistrusting.
What do we have in common with Scrooges and hoarders?
Why do we align ourselves with the puppets of these? Voting them in for ‘order’.
Is this really order?
Since when have we had that?
We are decimated through structural violence.
Turn on the news.
Crime, murder, rape, war, bombs, guns, starvation, corruption, austerity, collapse, pollution, recession, extortion and the bailing out of criminals. Always followed by a feel good story to leave us warm and fuzzy, rail-roading us from the subconscious infections that eat away at our minds. A haze of negative energy that blurs away the clarity of any truth.
Logic is swept away, as waves of emotion and confusion drag us under the surface of a world all at sea.
We are caught in a neo-liberal flood, engulfing the surface of the earth. Bouncing and colliding with each other, causing the friction that keeps the flimsy, dying ship afloat.
This dated system serves only a few. We support it with chagrined persistence, ruled by inferiors, deceived by their suits, their barrels of money and their fake wolfish smiles.
It surely is a twisted world when we look to end conflicts with more.
When we seek to end human displacement with war.
When we seek to abolish violent ideologies with alienation.
When we try to rid ourselves of a migraine by banging our heads harder against a wall.
Ask yourselves, who wins and rules in a sick world?
That would be psychopaths.
Climb the ladder, there awaits your undoing.
Reach the pinnacle, the plunge is ever further.
Nothing is exhilarating about the death of a soul.
The wars on TV are far from the wars the ordinary citizen must fight.
It starts with the lucky. The privileged minority who still have a few rights left.
The true war is the war on conciousness. A war that seeks to subdue the spirit of the common man.
The fathers and the mothers. The children.
You and I, and those like us, who carry the same human feelings all across the world!
Because no man, like you or me, with family and love, with the struggles of the day to day grind, with the tiredness that longs for Saturday’s rest, has any care for world domination.
All I want is peace in my time.
And the only way to get that is to win the war.
That war starts with purifying our minds.
With uniting our thoughts, combing our power, amplifying our energies.
And manifesting a new way.
Only through this new way, can we take back our world and give our children the future that they deserve.
For us to truly see. We must ask ourselves the hard questions.
Even if it means coming to the courageous, yet painful realisation, that for so long, we have allowed ourselves to be blind.
I love you my friends. I’m sorry for the times when my words did offend. When the rashness of my own thoughts voiced, pushed you away.
I will never stop believing, even as the disappointments break against me and threaten to drag me asunder.
As I struggle with the heartache of the world I long for, that sometimes seems, so dishearteningly far away.
That love will surely prevail.
Towards that, I look forward with hope, not hopelessness.
Because this is not utopia.
Yet someday, we will know, what it is to be truly free.
