Americans have a big choice to make.
One that will determine whether Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump becomes the next president of the world’s only real superpower.
A super power, once (before the internet) considered a beacon of freedom. Now the overgrown aberration of a global totalitarian corporatist order.
The bully in the school yard is really just a big boy in chains, a simple tool (fool?) doing the bidding of its masters.
The American people should have had enough by now. A revolt is not a matter of if, but when. Against the systemic dismantling of the working class. The embarrassing, lopsided use of technological funds for conflict rather than progress. The criminal theft of citizen’s taxes to bail out delusional gamblers on Wall Street. The perpetual state of war for freedom wherever there is oil. The list goes on.
Yes, Americans should have had enough.
But they haven’t.
Hillary Clinton just won New Hampshire. Resoundingly. She took Super Tuesday as well.
A politician who gets massive appearance fees for speaking at Wall Street functions and huge donations from financial institutions, yet, says she is going to stand up to the same.
A politician at the centre of an email controversy that at best shows her total incompetence in American government procedure and at worst shows her as dishonest and untrustworthy.
A politician who voted for the Patriot Act. One of the worst, most criminal assaults on human rights at home and abroad in recent history. The very act that started mass global displacement and spawned the new, worsening age of terror we live in today. Now apparently, she’s against it.
A politician who was at best, an average secretary of state.
A politician who’s story of her courageous entry into Bosnia was based on a lie.
A politician who changes her position at a whim, depending on which way the popular vote is ebbing.
A politician who’s happy to ride the momentum of a cheap shot campaign focusing on ‘Bernie’s Bro’s’ – check this out from a usually reputable publication.
A politician who personifies everything that educated women (and men!) despise about our patriarchal system. A system which finds it’s strength in the status-quo.
Considering that the war going on right now is (and always has been) one of class warfare, we really must assume that people are suckers for punishment. Hillary Clinton has nothing in common with the citizens of America that need her the most. Not the blacks, not the Hispanics, not the Indians, not the women and certainly not anyone in the working class.
It just goes to show how successful the American mainstream media is at shoving propaganda down people’s throats. The same propaganda used to such high effect in the cold war. Still fooling the same people.
Bernie Sanders took roughly $75,000 worth of donations from financial sponsors out of $96,000,000. Nearly all of his funding comes from the people.
Sanders opposed the Patriot Act and still does.
Sanders has plans to pay for all of his policies.
Sanders has been fighting the same battle, for the same people, for decades.
The establishment and its puppet media are blatantly against Bernie Sanders and therefore, the common people he represents. Someone’s got the establishment media in her pocket, selling the dream of ‘more of the same’ and Americans seem keen to keep buying.
The establishment and their media puppets think that by pushing this easily malleable ‘progressive’, they can win over Americans who are sick of the criminal establishment. They see themselves steering the public away from Donald Trump in a final master stroke. The height of arrogance and ignorance.
Or is it confidence? Confidence in the ignorance of the public that has served them so well for generations. Confidence in myriad wage slaves working harder to line the pockets of very few, thinking that they still live in a grand democracy. Confidence that people are watching more of The Kardashians than the real world events that show we are running out of time. Confidence that people will vote ‘safe’ in spite of such see-through misinformation.
Trump will destroy Hillary on all of the above-mentioned weaknesses. He will go after her at every opportunity, with no care for the clean approach that Sanders has taken. He will drag her over the media coals the same way he did with his hapless republican opponents. And there will be no blackout.
Polls already elude to a tight race between Clinton and Trump while predicting her losses to Rubio and Cruz. Sanders’ polls however seem quite different. A more emphatic advantage over all republican candidates.
Maybe the internet isn’t that helpful after all. Some people just don’t want to see.
They got the first black president 8 years ago and nothing changed. Time to throw out another cliché. Let’s all chuck a rainbow on our profile pics and talk about how progressive everything is.
Or you could make a real difference and vote for Bernie Sanders.
